Weekend Update (A little late)

Updated: Apr 10

Hey y'all. It's time for another weekend update. Although it's pretty late, it's already Wednesday. We didn't do much this weekend, in part to me waiting on a new sleeve so I can walk ok. Let's start there.

My Sleeve Issues

As most of you know, my main issue with my MS is that I have issues with my left leg. I struggle to lift my foot of the ground and my stability is quite poor in that leg. What helps tremendously is the Neural Sleeve from CIONIC. It stimulates the muscles in my leg exactly at the moment they need stimulation to allow me to walk, not perfect, but good enough.

How is this accomplished?

Excellent question!

Disclaimer: I'm not an engineer. My explanation my not be perfect but you'll get the gist.

The sleeve is equipped with 24 electrodes placed strategically to send a quick jolt to a muscle to help with mobility and strengthen the muscle that it's stimulating. It has a control unit that monitors all aspects of the sleeve and you leg movements so it knows exactly when to fire an electrode. It really is an amazing piece of equipment.

When I am wearing the sleeve I can walk for a pretty lengthy time. We can go out and run errands for half the day and I don't start struggling until the very end. Without the sleeve? That's not the case. I'm lucky if I can make it through a trip to Walmart without getting worn out.

So, what happened to my sleeve? The sleeve uses sticky pads to stick to my leg. Each of the 24 electrodes has a pad that sticks to my skin so the electrode can make contact and provide the jolt needed. On of the sticky pads decided to pull the electrode out of the sleeve.

CIONIC asked me to send it in for some warranty work because obviously that is NOT supposed to happen. The excellent news is that they are sending me a whole new sleeve and it 'should' be here today. You never know with UPS though... I'm keeping my fingers crossed because we have a Disney trip coming up.

Shooting

Now, on to the fun part of the weekend update. We went to the range after skipping a week. And the break definitely paid off.

We skipped a week to give our bodies and minds a short break from shooting. We both didn't shoot well the last time and we needed to reset.

This weekend was better. We both shot more like 'us' and felt pretty good after. I have started to work on increasing my distance to target to get more practice at further distances and my spreads were much more normal.

I shot both the 17 and 19 this time (the first target is the 17, the second is the 19) and I shot between 7-10 yards.

I've only been consistently shooting for less than a year so I can't expect perfection but I am very happy with this weekend's shooting outing. I'm a little better with the red-dot optics on the 19 but all-in-all, it was a good trip. Someday soon I'll match my wife's 25 yards. But not before I'm ready.

Following the shooting tips that I've found have been really helpful. I've compiled a bunch over on my shooting page if you're interested. More will be added as I go.

That's the weekend update, y'all

Well, there you have it. That's the latest (late) weekend update. I think I might start writing about the books I'm reading. I'm challenging myself to read more this year. I'm off to a pretty solid start so I think some of that may be incoming for y'all.

As always, until next time.
