We moved to the south a few years ago. Guns are everywhere down here. That combined with my wife's need to practice for work, we have both become very interested and involved in short to medium range handgun target shooting. It's strictly for fun, not for self-defense or anything like that. We don't carry weapons anywhere and they stay locked up when not in use. We just love it as a hobby.
Plus there is the added benefit of knowing how to use them should the need ever arise.
We've only been regularly shooting for about 6 months so I can't say that I'm a great shot but I'm getting there. There has definitely been improvement. I can at least say that. Here's a snap from our last outing. Most of the time I'm shooting at around 7 yards but this time I went back to 10 for a little more challenge.
Not too shabby for only shooting about a dozen times. Every weekend is a little better. And no, those holes above the target are not mine. My biggest area for improvement is my trigger control. I have to still really think about pulling the trigger straight back to avoid hitting a little left of my mark.
For those that are curious, I'm shooting a Glock 17 Gen 5, no optics. I love the gun. It's comfortable to hold and shoots well.
I'll give y'all updates as I go. This is now a weekly thing, sometimes multiple times a week and I don't see it stopping any time soon, if ever.
